    New genetic loci link adipose and insulin biology to body fat distribution.

    Body fat distribution is a heritable trait and a well-established predictor of adverse metabolic outcomes, independent of overall adiposity. To increase our understanding of the genetic basis of body fat distribution and its molecular links to cardiometabolic traits, here we conduct genome-wide association meta-analyses of traits related to waist and hip circumferences in up to 224,459 individuals. We identify 49 loci (33 new) associated with waist-to-hip ratio adjusted for body mass index (BMI), and an additional 19 loci newly associated with related waist and hip circumference measures (P < 5 × 10(-8)). In total, 20 of the 49 waist-to-hip ratio adjusted for BMI loci show significant sexual dimorphism, 19 of which display a stronger effect in women. The identified loci were enriched for genes expressed in adipose tissue and for putative regulatory elements in adipocytes. Pathway analyses implicated adipogenesis, angiogenesis, transcriptional regulation and insulin resistance as processes affecting fat distribution, providing insight into potential pathophysiological mechanisms

    Webbutveckling med HTML5 Boilerplate : En studie i mallens egenskaper och god utvecklingspraxis

    I arbetet stiftar vi bekantskap med webbutvecklingsmallen HTML5 Boilerplate och dess innehĂ„ll. HTML5 Boilerplate Ă€r en populĂ€r startbotten för att utveckla snabba, hĂ„llbara och anpassningsbara webbsidor och -applikationer. Den innehĂ„ller mĂ€ngder av tekniska lösningar som anses vara bĂ€sta praxis nĂ€r det gĂ€ller webbutveckling. Hundratals professionella webbutvecklare har tillsammans bidragit till Boilerplate-projektet och delat med sig av sin kunskap. Strukturen i Boilerplate-paketet behandlas del för del. Paketet Ă€r licenserat under en MIT-licens och kan fritt anvĂ€ndas för bĂ„de personligt- och kommersiellt bruk. Flera vĂ€lkĂ€nda företag och sidor har valt att anvĂ€nda denna mall. I arbetet undersöker jag vad som gör denna mall kraftfull och försöker identifiera det som Ă€r bĂ€sta webbutvecklingspraxis. I arbetet blir slutprodukten en responsiv Mobile First Boilerplate-sida. Som utgĂ„ngspunkt anvĂ€nds Initializr, en Boilerplate-mallgenerator som ger oss en anpassad botten. I arbetet lĂ€ggs stor vikt pĂ„ mobilvĂ€nlig utveckling, nĂ„got som vi inte kan frĂ„nse i dagens lĂ€ge dĂ„ mobila apparater anvĂ€nds allt mer.In this study we dive into the HTML5 Boilerplate web developing template and its contents. HTML5 Boilerplate is a popular starting ground for the development of fast, durable and adaptable websites and applications. It contains a large amount of technical solutions considered to be best praxis in web development. A community of hundreds of professional developers around the world have contributed to the Boilerplate project and shared their knowledge. This thesis goes through the structural content of the Boilerplate package, part by part. The package is licensed under an MIT-license, free for personal and commercial use. Many well-known companies and sites are already using this template. In the process, I examine what makes this template so powerful and try to identify what exactly are best web development practices. The end product of this work is a responsive Mobile First Boilerplate website. As starting ground, the templates generator Initializr is used, which gives us a customizable Boilerpate template. In this study we put great emphasis on mobile-friendly development, something we canÂŽt disregard in today’s time when mobile devices are increasingly used

    Potilaan lÀmmönhallinta ensihoidossa: Monialainen projekti lÀmmönhallintatuotteiden kehittÀmiseksi

    OpinnÀytetyön tarkoitus oli selvittÀÀ Suomessa ensihoidon kÀytössÀ olevat lÀmmönhallintatuotteet, perehtyÀ niiden ominaisuuksiin ja selvittÀÀ ensihoitajien mielipiteitÀ uuden lÀmmittÀvÀn tuotteen tarpeesta. OpinnÀytetyö toteutettiin monialaisena projektina LUT-yliopiston ja LAB-ammattikorkeakoulun kanssa. OpinnÀytetyö toteutettiin kolmessa vaiheessa. Vaiheessa I perehdyttiin hypotermian teoriaan ja selvitettiin verkkokaupoissa saatavilla olevia lÀmmönhallintatuotteita. Teoriapohjan ja selvitystyön perusteella suunniteltiin sairaanhoitopiirien tilausvastaaville kysely. KyselyllÀ selvitettiin sairaanhoitopiirien kÀytössÀ olevat lÀmmönhallintatuotteet. Vaiheessa II jÀrjestettiin työpaja, jossa kokeiltiin ja arvioitiin lÀmmönhallintatuotteita. Vaiheessa III suunniteltiin kysely Ensihoidon Uutiset -Facebook ryhmÀÀn, jossa selvitettiin ensihoitajien kokemuksia hypotermisen potilaan hoidosta, lÀmmönhallintatuotteista ja uuden tuotteen kehittÀmistarpeesta. Kyselyn perusteella ensihoitajat kokevat osaavansa hoitaa hypotermista potilasta, mutta kohtaavat vuosittain vÀhÀn hypotermisia potilaita. Ensihoitajilla oli heikko tietÀmys työpaikkansa hypotermisen potilaan hoito-ohjeesta. Ensihoitajat kokevat nykyiset lÀmmönhallintatuotteet toimivaksi, mutta ovat avoimia uudelle tuotteelle. Uuden tuotteen tÀrkeinÀ ominaisuuksina pidetÀÀn helppokÀyttöisyyttÀ, edullisuutta, nopeaa kÀyttöÀ ja kompaktia pakkauskokoa. Kirjallisuuden perusteella ensihoidossa on tÀrkeÀÀ estÀÀ potilaan lisÀjÀÀhtyminen, ei niinkÀÀn potilaan lÀmmittÀminen. Ensihoidossa kannattaa yhdistÀÀ passiivinen ja aktiivinen lÀmmitysmenetelmÀ
